Rarefacció 2022
Hangar presents the third edition of Rarefacció, a listening cycle held in seven days in Hangar’s Sala Ricson. The cycle is part of the sound program Audio Formal.
Rarefaction is the reduction of the density of a medium, the opposite of compression. It can also refer to an area of relatively low pressure that follows a sound wave.
For the new edition of Rarefacció we want to make visible a group of relations that most of the artists included in this year’s program share.
Friends, lovers, artists who orbit Hangar, from the residents or collectives that inhabit the center, for the 2022 edition of Rarefacció, the program has been conceived from a set of affections within the immediate context, wanting to show the sound practices of the orbiters, inhabitants and residents of Hangar.
The programme curated by Sergi Botella includes the artists Okkre (Gijón), Rashad Becker (Berlin) or Demetrio Cecchitelli (Rimini). Suggesting performances based on types of compositions very distant from each other aesthetically, but at the same time, very close on an emotional level, connected by a system of relationships that somehow sustain the experimental scene as well as the creation of sound. Sessions by Violeta Mayoral and Kentaro Terajima. The composition from instruments tailored to her body and voice by Jenny Abouav. In addition, in the present this edition, Rarefacció and On-the-fly (European project led by Hangar), join forces and present Olivia Jack, an artist who will present her work in musical code programming with the experimental musician George Adje, which we can see together with Daniel Moreno Roldán (who will act with the collaboration of Estel Boada) and Helicotrema, or the ambient with touches of Drone by Demetrio Cecchitelli who will share the program with artists who are part of the experimental sound scene of Barcelona such as Alfredo Costa Monteiro, Ex Continent or Agnès Pe.
We propose the last of the sessions at night with the complicity of the sala VOL where you can listen to the sets of Ikram Bouloum and Tutu.
Rarefacció will take place from April 8 to May 27, every Friday at 6 pm. The price of the entry ticket is 5 €.
