Carlos Bracho

Carlos Bracho, Cádiz (Spain) 1970

Period of residency: 2000 – 2003

Carlos Bracho expresses himself through minimalism, he immerses into impalpable ephimeral and subjective grounds in order to put the audience in front of a mirror, there we will only find as much as we are inclined to give. It is an experience through the experience.

His works, which go a long way before they are finished, are demanding. One must be aware of time’s passing and the subject dimension, artist and audience alike. Both subjects are entailed in these works that build some truly invading architectures. With a meditated and abstract process Bracho not only crafts, charts and manipulates the space from the detail, he also reflects about a visual imagery in which we are all represented. In front of this imagery we are always overexposed.

The whole of Bracho’s works include video, photography, installation, performances, sculpture, drawing and artist books. These projects have in common a strong procedural character which share a connection between them time and time again, it is like the neverending path we can achieve when confronting two parallel mirrors.

He graduated in Fine Arts at University of Castilla-La Mancha and he did individual exhibitions as Un nuevo mundo en un paraíso perfecto. Gallery Carmen de la Calle. Madrid (2004), Donner c’est aimer, aimer c’est partager. Gallery Carmen de la Calle. Madrid (2006), We have a dream. Casa Pemán. Cádiz (2007), Arquitectura y “Yo”. Espacio de la Calle. Jerez (2012), Campo de Color. Galley Ángeles Baños. Badajoz (2013), and other collective exhibitions and conferences.
