Frederic Montornès

Frederic Montornès i Dalmau, Sitges (Spain) 1963

Frederic Montornès is an art critic and an independent exhibition curator. He has a degree of Art History in the UB and he studied in the National Institution of Contemporary Art of Grenoble (Le Magasin, 1990-1991). He started to work like an exhibition curator in Espai 13 in the Fundation of Joan Miró of Barcelona with exhibitions like Comunicacions. El vigor de l’efímer (1991-1992), Bloc de fragments (1992-1993) and Sense títol (1993-1994). In the 25th birthday of the Fundation he does another exhibition with Mònica Regàs and Ferran Barenbilt.
Since that moment he does lots of exhibitions in Barcelona (La Capella, ICUB, ,1996-1997; Virreina Palace, 2002, 2004), in Copenhague (Charlottenborg Udstillingsbygning, 1995), in Lisbon (Zé dos Bois, 1999), in Madrid (Centro Arte Joven, 1998), in Valencia (Luis Adelantado Gallery, 1998) and in Rome (Cervantes Institute, 1999).
Between 2004 and 2007 he has a place in the curatorial table of Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica in Barcelona. In 2008 he organized an exhibition in the Foundation la Caixa in Girona and in Tarragona, and two more exhibitions of draw in the Mas Art Gallery of Barcelona.

He was the commissioner of the Intervenciones Foro Sur de Cáceres, he’s the editor of number 9 of the collection books Impasse (La Panera, Lleida), revue about the training for the art commissioners of the world. Like an art critic, he collaborates in Exit Book since 2002 and in Exit Express since 2004 and in Benzina, Suite, Correo de Arco…
