Jeffrey Swartz, Vancouver (Canada)

Jeffrey Swartz was born in Vancouver and resides in Barcelona, where he’s a critic, curator and educator, teaching at design schools EINA and Bau. In summer 2013 he teaches the ECUAD course Design Criticism and Critical Design. In summer 2012 he taught on collaborative art. Other EC courses include Art and the New Gastronomy (2008), The Geopolitics of Food (2009) and Goya and Spanish Modernism (2011). Swartz writes in magazines (Flash Art, Art News, Fillip), catalogues and essay volumes. From 2007-2011 he edited Barcelona Metropolis. Recent publications include an essay in Martí Guixé: Food Designing ( 2010) and reviews in C, A-Desk and Artecontexto. He writes on Barcelona art activism in Institutions by Artists (Vancouver, 2012). A curated show on email scams toured in 2007-08. He’s also curated J. Stockholder, Lebbeus Woods and Susana Solano. In 2009 he showed Thought for Food, for a K. Podesva project at Langara College.
