Hangar – Land Vorarlberg / KUB Bregenz Exchange Grants

Third edition of the exchange grants between Hangar and the Land Vorarlberg / KUB Bregenz, for the realization of a residency program between the cities of Bregenz and Barcelona. Within this program, two artists residing in the Spanish State will be selected to carry out a residency at Kunsthaus Bregenz.

Bregenz is a city internationally recognized for its cultural attractions. Artists in residence will have the opportunity to work in this environment and will have support to carry out their artistic projects in collaboration with local institutions and artistic production workshops: the Kunsthaus Bregenz, the gallery of the town hall (Magazin 4), the Vorarlberg artist society or different artistic production workshops such as Druckwerk, specialized in engraving.

Kunsthaus Bregenz is an internationally active institute for the exhibition of contemporary art. Thanks to its exhibition program and its architecture, the Kunsthaus is also internationally recognized. It was designed by the Swiss architect Peter Zumthor on behalf of the Austrian Federal State of Vorarlberg and was built between 1990 and 1997. Peter Zumthor won the Mies van der Rohe Prize for European Architecture in 1998 for the Kunsthaus. In 2009, he received the Pritzker Prize for architecture. Artists are invited to respond to the architecture of the building or enter into dialogue with it. For this reason, a large part of the work on display has been created site specific for the institution. The scholarship artists will be able to investigate the spaces of the building and use all the facilities of the Kunsthaus Bregenz.
