Marla Jacarilla

Marla Jacarilla, Alicante (Spain) 1980

Marla Jacarilla is an artist who lives and works in Barcelona. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She has also completed a Master of Artistic Productions and Research at the University of Barcelona.

Since 2008 she is editor in the magazine of film criticism and analysis Contrapicado. She has worked in arts and film publications as Paesaggio, A * Desk, The Green Ray, film or Cortosfera notes, among others.

Recent collective exhibitions include: Nothing stops. Act and preface, Dafo. Projectes i Contemporary Art Space, Lleida (2014); Fairy Tales, Mataró (2014); Factotum, Fundació Tàpies, Barcelona (2013); Disruptions, Galeria Senda, Barcelona (2013), among others. Among them stand out solo exhibitions: Works (in) complete, within the cycle Orthographic relationships (in turbulent times), Espai Dos, Espai Muncunill, Terrassa (2014); Acotacions after the fourth wall, La Capella, Barcelona (2013).

She has also received grants and awards followed from 2007 to the present. As well as three residencies, two in Barcelona and one in Sabadell.
