Call to participate in the performance “Turtle” by the artist Ariadna Guiteras
On 20 May 2017, in the framework of “La nit dels Museus”, a project promoted by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona in collaboration with Hangar and El Castell de Montjuïc will be held “Tortuga”. A large scale performance by Ariadna Guiteras, composed of 40 people, specially and spatially designed for the Castle of Montjuic.
A choreography that focuses on the sinuous tension of the bodies in relation to other bodies, in space and in the matter, focusing on the tacit violence of the relations of power, resistance and seduction. From the displacement of the strategies of mass control used by the the Spanish National Police in the perimeter of the Castle of Montjuic and taking advantage of an event with a big influx of public as is the Night of the Museums. The public will be interpellated by different human formations along the perimeter of the castle, altering its movements, sometimes impeding the passage, sometimes allowing it, with the will to fuse the bodies with the stone, and control with affection, without distinction.
We are looking for people who, preferably, come from the field of dance or theater, without having any specific skills or age, but with notions of coordination in space and in relation to other people, who would like to be part of a performance that requires of the coordination of 40 bodies in different types of simple human formations (wedge, column one or two, diagonal or in line). The performance will be happening during “La nit dels Museus” on May 20, 2017, during 5h (between 19 to 24h) with half an hour of rest, diets and transport are covered. Previously there will be practice (dates still to confirm) of 4.5 hours in total. Each participant will be remunerated with 100 €.
