How do you do? Talk with Daniel Blanga-Gubbay and Nora O’Murchú
How do you do?, the first activity of Hangar Obert, will take place on 14 September. Daniel Blanga-Gubbay, director of the Kunstenfestival des Arts in Brussels, Nora O’Murchú, director of Transmediale in Berlin, and Laila Hida*, director of Le18 in Marrakech and the ArtExplora festival in North Africa, will take part in the public discussion, which will be moderated by Anna Manubens, director of Hangar, and Veronica Valentini, responsible for research networks and international residencies at Hangar.
What criteria should be used to articulate content is the question that will be the focus of the discussion, which will not only provide clues on how to navigate these festivals, but also address the responsibility of international events on issues such as mobility, inequalities, sustainability, production links and the way in which lasting ties are established between a scene and its international visitors.
The talk is part of the first edition of the Hangar Visitors Programme, an initiative that aims to promote the presence of Spanish artists at top international events. In this first edition, representatives from the Kunstenfestival des Arts (Brussels), Transmediale (Berlin) and ArtExplora/Le18 (Marrakech) will attend the lecture, as well as personal meetings with artists from the city and studio visits to learn about their practices first hand.
HVP takes place in parallel with Hangar Obert, two days when the centre opens its doors to the public with an extensive programme of open studios, talks and performances to showcase the work, production and research processes of the resident artists and projects.
* Due to the earthquake in Marrakech, Laila Hida will not be able to attend the meeting.
