A coffee with Carlos Bunga
Next Wednesday, 13 December, we invite Carlos Bunga for a coffee with the artists in residence, as part of the OLLA. Common research programme.
The idea is to maintain a dialogue with no higher expectation than dialogue for dialogue’s sake. The invitation to Carlos arose out of the artists’ interest in their latest projects and some of the impulses that they are generating. Among them, his approach to the idea of the “artist in transit or nomad”. A performative figuration halfway between philosophical reflection and the situated development of their interdisciplinary practice. Over coffee, common interests are sure to emerge, such as sustained creative processes that allow the activation of other forms of consciousness, or shared references in art history, such as the work of the Gutai group.
Carlos Bunga (Porto, Portugal. Lives in Barcelona, Spain) creates processual works in various formats such as sculpture, painting, drawing, performance, video and, above all, in situ installations that intervene in the architecture of their surroundings. Carlos Bunga’s work has been exhibited in important international museums and art centres such as the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, Spain), the Museo Serralves (Porto, Portugal), the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo MUAC-UNAM (Mexico City), the Whitechapel Gallery (London, England), the Secession (Vienna, Austria) and the 29th Bienal de São Paulo (Brazil), among others.
