Oídos en los talones, with Ericka Flórez

Next Tuesday, 5 December, in OLLA. Common Research Program, we will welcome Ericka Flórez to give shape to a conversation-aperitif that we have come to call Oídos en los talones (Ears on our heels).

Under this motto, we propose to address some of the vectors that run through Ericka’s research practice, from her long-term project Hegelian Dancers to her recent curatorial work Epistemología vibrátil, which brings together works that propose different notions of space/time/subject/territory. All of these drifts reflect a sustained working methodology in which Ericka seeks ways to question our cosmogony through embodied experiences that become listening devices.

Ericka Florez (Cali, 1983) has worked in the field of contemporary art curating projects in different formats (dance conferences, exhibitions, editing publications, writing curatorial essays, public programmes). She has written for various art catalogues and magazines, such as Terremoto, Revista Errata,laescuela.net, A* desk, among others; she has also published some experiments combining art criticism, essay and fiction, such asEl blanco Móvil, Hegelian Dancers, y Esfuerzos por nombrar.

She has participated in several portfolio reviews in institutions such as Rupert (Vilnius), the educational programme of SOMA Mexico and La Escocesa in Barcelona. She has given art writing workshops at various museums, events and artist spaces, and recently taught a curatorial diploma at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá. She has been a juror for art calls at Apexart, Pivo, Artlink, Idartes and MIncultura-Colombia. She is interested in the links between art and education and, together with other artists from Cali, created La nocturna, a platform that experimented with formats and types of encounters around knowledge, and La casa en el aire, an experiment in transdisciplinary education through art for children and families. She is currently artistic director of the independent space lugar a dudas in Cali.
