PRACTICABLE 7_Open Call: “Yes to everything” by Marc Vives

In this edition of Practicable, I want to share questions that have to do with the moment in which I am now, the need to stop and make a radical change. I propose to self-understand a routine that can be useful for each of the participants from the honesty and giving space to fulfill it. To discover forms of training or maintaining that contemplate not-doing and not hurting oneself, even though suffering is an inherent part of doing. To take a second look at the methodology from desire; right now I’m doing it from singing and swimming. I propose to work from regret, time management (jobs and vital drive), mood, energy, friendship, loneliness and the idea of a partner. The sessions will seek to form a temporary space of support and security in which we will create the conditions of “Yes to everything” for ourselves and the rest of our companions.

Marc Vives.

Practical information

This laboratory is divided into two parts: a first introductory and planning part during two consecutive afternoons, and a second intensive part of three days and three nights of coexistence. The introductory sessions will be held on May 1st and 2nd in the afternoon (Wednesday from 16 to 20h and Thursday from 18.30 to 20.30h), and the coexistence days from Friday evening, June 21st to Monday evening, June 24th. These days have been chosen so that anyone with a regular job can attend.

To participate, please send us a few lines before Tuesday April 23th to <antonio@hangar.org> stating why you are interested in joining us and your commitment to attend on the dates indicated. If you have any unavoidable problem with the dates, you can let us know, and we will see the possible options to make the calendar more flexible and adaptable. “Yes to everything” is aimed at a maximum group of fifteen people (any person inserted in a spiral system of work-life and interested in finding their own ways of doing) and is part of the Practicable research thread of Hangar.

Marc Vives Muñoz (Barcelona, 1978) sings and swims, between the scenic and the visual. He works with the materiality of the voice in its sculptural potentiality with the aim of infiltrating architectures, landscapes and other bodies and reformulate an established order. He has shown his work in Rogaland Kunstsenter (Stavanger, 2016), Redcat (LA, 2016), etHALL (BCN, 2018), MACBA (BCN 2021), and in performances in Antic Teatre (BCN, 2020), CCEMX (Mexico, 2020), Festival Grec (BCN, 2020), La Casa Encendida (Madrid, 2021), MUSAC (León, 2023), Collegium (Arévalo, 2023) or MAC PANAMÀ (2023). Likewise, he collaborates with other artists: from 2002 to 2012 he was part of the duo Bestué-Vives, going to the 2009 edition of the Venice Biennale. His field of affectation exceeds the artistic practice and is dedicated to pedagogy, curatorial practices or management, seeking to collectively transform the artistic contextual model. He has recently curated the Secuencia cycle, created the Escuela de Voz and formed part of the curatorial team at La Capella. He has also directed GRAF.cat since 2013.
