Words of Weather, with Daphne Dragona

Weather exists as an atmosphere that can be measured, as an environment that lives, and as a time in which we experience humidity, pressure, temperature, and visibility. What would be appropriate meteorological terms that relate to this choice of concerns: measurement, experience, and time? This session will feature a conversation with curator and researcher Daphne Dragona, (curator, along with Jussi Parikka of the exhibition Weather Engines) about the compilation Words of Weather: a glossary of weather for navigating the contemporary moment on the surface and in the air, on bodies and in our environments. With Daphne we will address how weather matters as a reality defined through scientific models and technical sensors, while it is felt differently and unevenly in different parts of the world. Climate will be treated as an ecology, taking into account its technologies and affects, scientific and poetic language, phenomena and interpretations through diverse perspectives, cultures and geographies.
