Results of Encura VI: Curatorial Research Residency between Barcelona and Madrid
The selection committee, composed of Nancy Berthier, director of La Casa de Velázquez, and Claude Bussac, director of artistic studies at La Casa de Velázquez; Anna Manubens, director of Hangar, and Veronica Valentini, head of research networks and international residencies at Hangar; Flavia Introzzi and Emma Brasó, from the hablarenarte team; has decided to award the Encura VI curatorial research residency grant to Irene Mahugo Amaro with the project Revolución horizontal (provisional title) and to name Mireia Serrano as a finalist with the project ‘Sin Querer’.
Irene Mahugo Amaro’s Revolución horizontal aims to discuss the ableist society from a feminist perspective, taking into account the orientation and situation of artist-researchers, writers, philosophers and other actors in the cultural context. Influenced by crip theory, it seeks to explore the connection between the sense of bodily vulnerability and the progressive dismantling of the planet.
We thank all the participants of the call and wish Irene Mahugo Amaro all the best for her residency at Hangar, La Casa de Velázquez and hablarenarte.
