PRACTICABLE 5_Slow Reading Club / Bryana Fritz and Henry Andersen
As part of the Practicable action-research line, and in collaboration with Festival Sâlmon, Hangar opens an invitation with Slow Reading Club (SRC), a semi-fictional reading group initiated by Bryana Fritz and Henry Andersen at the end of 2016. The group is dedicated to creating situations for collective reading. The SRC observes, investigates, and interrupts reading as a way to stimulate contact zones between reader and text, between texts and texts, between readers. The SRC does not aim at deconstructing or understanding the texts in one’s hands, but at producing a kind of excess: temporarily suspending criticism in favor of intimacy and negotiating relations with the text.
The session at Hangar will consist of a series of reading protocols based on text and body, as well as a pirate fanzine with texts taken from hard drives of experimental writing, prose, poetry and theory. The texts will be in English and some in Spanish, although participation is encouraged from people with competence in any language.
