PRACTICABLE 4_Open call: “Laringe, oscilador (larynx oscillator)” with Jaume Ferrete Vázquez

Laringe, oscillator (larynx oscillator) is a collective vocal practice in a four-session workshop format, led by artist Jaume Ferrete Vázquez, which will take place at Hangar on Tuesday, June 27; Wednesday, June 28; Tuesday, July 04 and Wednesday, July 05, from 16:30 to 20:00h.

The practice will be built from a series of simple durational exercises, in which we will embody and vocalize sound production processes and techniques of sound synthesis and electronic music: OSC/Noise, ADSR, filter sweep, stutter…

Attempting to bring synthesis to the vocal apparatus also means encountering the conditioning factors of the body, its organic inaccuracy, the lung volume and its rhythms. The exercises will be carried out, precisely, on these crossings: we will make voice as if we were synths made of flesh and air.

It is NOT necessary to have any formal vocal training to participate, only a certain relationship with one’s own voice, listening, playing, as well as the commitment to the dates of the work sessions and to give oneself to the exercises.

Jaume Ferrete Vázquez works as an artist, teacher and researcher around the notion of voice, through performance, listening sessions, archives, workshops, conversations, sound works and websites. He has collaborated with multiple institutions (MACBA, MNCARS, MUAC UNAM, Secession, UOC, BAU, UPV/EHU, TEOR/éTica…) and has received multiple awards (Generación 2016, Becas Leonardo Fundación BBVA, Estancia artística AMEXCID, OSIC…). Currently, he is developing a doctoral research (BAU) on synthetic voices and performance.

Practical Information
Date: Tuesday 27/06, Wednesday 28/06, Tuesday 04/07 and Wednesday 05/07.
Time: 4.30 to 8 pm.
Place: Sala Ricson, Hangar.
